One this page: Surly 15" 1 x 1 single speed bike
Surly Bikes was started in 1998 by Quality Bicycle Products, headquartered in Minnesota. The company designs bicycles, frames and components.
Surly 15" 1 x 1 single-speed bicycle. Used, $650.00
Surly no longer makes the 1 x 1, which underwent several changes during its production life. The maker posted this description:
Dig the 1x1, a singlespeed mountain bike. It was designed for 26" wheels, big tires (clearance for 2.75"), and single cog and ring drivetrains. Run it with a freewheel, a fixed cog or if you like with an internal gear hub. The 1x1 is made of 4130 CroMoly tubing of our own design, with a custom double-butted main triangle and triple-butted fork blades for a tough yet responsive, lively ride. The geometry is pretty straightforward… it rides like a mountain bike. Chainstays are heat-treated for durability. The fork can be replaced with a 100mm-travel suspension fork, but we've maintained good standover clearance, Clarence.
Specs on this bike:
- 26" wheels: Weinmann Zac 19 double-wall rims laced with 32 DT 15/16g spokes. The front hub is a quick-release Specialized, while the rear is a Surly Fixed/Free nutted hub. The flanges are pretty far apart to strengthen the wheel.
- Rear flip/flop hubs
- The freewheel is an ACS Claws 20-tooth.
- Haro 3-piece crankset made of tubular CrMo with an Oddysey bottom bracket.
- Avid Single Digit Ti V-brakes. The Avid Single Digit Ti brake calipers have new Koolstop Eagle Claw pads.
- Avid FR-5 brake levers
- Ritchey Pro seat post
- Salsa FlipOff seatpost quick release
- Cane Creek threadless headset
